Thad Bartley

Owner/Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer

Thad was raised in Lubbock and graduated from Lubbock High School. He attended South Plains College for two years on a full tennis scholarship and transferred to Texas Tech University. He then attended and graduated from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service where he received his funeral directors and embalmers license. His experience in the industry includes five years with Harding-Orr and McDaniel Funeral Home in El Paso, and eight years with Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home in Lubbock.

Thad gained experience from his father, Bob S. Bartley and his uncle, Albert Joe Bartley, who owned and operated Bartley Funeral Homes in Grand Saline, Lone Oak and Alba, Texas. He opened Bartley Funeral Home in Plainview in 1998. Thad works hard to carry on the legacy of funeral service instilled in him by both his Father and Uncle. Thad is married to Lynn who does bookkeeping for the funeral home. They have two sons, Paxton and Nicholas. Paxton graduated from Wayland Baptist University in May of 2016 with a degree in Business Administration. Paxton continues to help with landscaping services for the funeral home on weekends as does his brother, Nicholas.

Nicholas Bartley, Thad and Lynn's younger son, is a graduate of The University of Texas in the Permian Basin with a degree in Business Administration. He finished two years at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas where he pitched for the varsity baseball team. Like his brother, Nick had the unique opportunity to play baseball while studying for his college degree. Nicholas also helps with grounds keeping for the funeral home as well as assists when possible at Bartley Funeral Home. He enjoys golf, skiing, riding his four-wheeler and spending time with his family.

Bob S. Bartley Funeral services for Bob Scott Bartley, 79, of Lubbock will be Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lubbock with Rev. Keith Wiseman officiating. Burial will be at City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home in Lubbock. He died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 at Lubbock Heart Hospital. He was born July 24, 1927 in Cooper to William and Sally Bartley. He married Mattie Marie Kerbow July 19, 1955 in Dallas. She passed away Nov. 4, 1992. Bob Scott Bartley of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home in Lubbock and A Native Texan, has been a Licensed Funeral Director since 1954, recently receiving his 50 year pin in Austin. He has lived in Lubbock since 1955, coming from Cooper, where he worked for Delta Funeral Home for ten years. Bob has served two terms as President of the Panhandle Funeral Directors Association going through all the chairs both times. Bob was currently serving his 3rd term with the Panhandle Association. Bob was also Awarded Distinguished Service Award on May 16, 1976 by the Panhandle Funeral Directors Association. During Bob's first two terms with Panhandle, he also served on the Texas Funeral Directors Association going through all the chairs for four years and serving as President on the state level in 1987-1988. Bob is an Honorary Lifetime member of the West Texas Funeral Directors Association. In 2005, he was named Outstanding Funeral Director of the Year by the West Texas Funeral Directors Association. In June 2005, he was also awarded Outstanding Funeral Director of the Year for the State of Texas. Since 1963, Bob has been an active member in the National Selected Morticians, an organization whose members are selected by invitation only. Bob was extremely active in Lubbock civic affairs. He has served as President of Southwest Lubbock Rotary Club, as well as Rotary Secretary, Vice President, and as a Member of the Board. As a member of Forrest Heights United Methodist Church, Bob has served as chairman of various committees as well as Vice Chairman of the Board. Bob was past director of the Lubbock Community Planning Council. Bob was also past Director of the South Plains Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis and a member of the Lubbock Community Planning Council. He along with late wife, Marie both were past co-presidents of the Lubbock High School PTA. An avid supporter of Southwest Little League, Bob sponsored teams from 1966 till 1991. Survivors include: two sons, Thad Scott Bartley with wife, Lynn of Lubbock and Kevin Robert Bartley with wife, Jeanie of Odessa; one daughter, Sheryl Davy with husband, Dean of Lubbock; one sister-in-law, Norma Bartley of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

Clarice Alley

In Memoriam

Clarice Alley was born and raised in Plainview. Clarice has a nursing background having worked at Lubbock Memorial Hospital before moving back to Plainview. Clarice and her late husband, Don Alley, owned Wallace Funeral Home in Tulia from 1977 - 1994. They retired in 1994 and Clarice worked part time for Bartley Funeral Home from 1998 until her health prevented her from doing so.
