Services for Virginia Pearl Spain, 97, of Lubbock, formally of Plainview will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Bartley Memorial Chapel in Plainview with Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Virginia passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 in Lubbock, TX. She was born to Silas "Pike" and Virgie Cheatheam in Childress, TX July 13, 1915 and married Jadie Colquitt Spain November 5, 1932 in Hollis, OK. Jadie and Virginia farmed in Childress County from the time of their marriage until they moved to Plainview in 1954. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was loved by all who knew her and her memory will be cherished by many. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting; and, most of all her life's mission of helping others. She attended College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview before moving to Hereford and then to Lubbock in 2007. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Lannis, Lloyd, Oran "Ted", Joyce, Robert, Silas Terry Jr. and sister, Mary. She is survived by her sons J.C. "Jay" and wife Wanda of Hereford, Robert and wife Nancy of Lubbock, Tom and wife Lori of Nacogdoches and daughter Judy Tiner, of Lubbock, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
