February 26, 1926 – February 9, 2025
Verla "Jo" Sharp Webb, 98, met her heavenly father on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at her home in Plainview, TX surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bartley Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Dennis Butler and Henry Martin, Officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home.
Jo was born on February 26, 1926, to Sabert Scott Sharp and Texie Ann Lee in Pike, Texas.
She married Granvel Webb on October 12, 1946. They lived in Lockney and Aiken for over 50 years and had four children: Lynda, Rubie, Randy, and Arlene. For the last few years of her life, Jo lived in Plainview. Jo enjoyed sewing and cooking for friends and family. She also took great pleasure in canning food for the family. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Aiken and was one of the last original members.
In addition to being a mother and wife, Jo had a successful career as a seamstress. She worked for CR Anthonys, Dargin Dress Shop, Marse & Sons, Vick's Cleaners, and Plainview Hardware.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sabert Scott and Texie Ann Sharp; one daughter, Lynda Holley; a brother, Fred Sharp; and a sister, Nell Nichols.
Those left to cherish her memories are one son, Randy Webb of Plainview, TX; two daughters, Rubie Wardlow of Plainview, TX and Arlene Anderson of Littlefield, TX; one sister, Wilma Gilcrease of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Coy Holley, Maylen King, and John Webb; and three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a memorial be made in memory of Jo Webb to the building fund of Aiken First Baptist Church or Meals on Wheels of Plainview.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Calvert Hospice and Meals on Wheels.
