Mrs. Theresa Griffin Dunlap died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 9, 2015 in Plainview TX at the age of 76.
Theresa is survived by her husband Wendell, daughters LeAnn Loftus of Brackettville TX, and Keri McBride of San Jose CA; siblings Frank Griffin of Greenville SC, Wade Griffin of College Station TX, and Carolyn German of Charlottesville VA; grandchildren Rachel, Daniel, Adrienne, Erica, Andrew, and Thomas Loftus, and Ryan and Samantha McBride. Theresa was born on December 11, 1938 in Slaton TX, to Finas and Ethal Grace Griffin. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Home Economics and later earned a Master's Degree in Education. She married Oliver
Wendell Dunlap, current mayor of Plainview, in 1961. After moving to Plainview in 1972, she began a career as an early childhood education teacher with MHMR and then Plainview Independent School District. Theresa was a member of the High Plains Genealogical Society, Whirlwind Sams RV Club, and Plainview Retired Teachers Association. She served as Librarian for College Heights Baptist Church because of her love of books. In addition, she loved researching her family's past. Her grandkids and others were blessed by her beautiful crocheted creations.
Visitation is scheduled for 6-8pm on Wednesday, August 12, at Bartley Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 10am on Thursday, August 13, at College Heights Baptist Church. The Rev. Jason Smith will officiate, with Rev. Don Robertson assisting. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, or the College Heights Baptist Church Library, 802 Quincy St, Plainview TX 79072. In addition,
