Funeral services for the Reverend James Anson Mock, 87, of Plainview will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Right Reverend Scott Meyer and the Reverend Jennifer Holder officiating. Reverend Mock passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014, in Plainview.
He was born on November 23, 1926, in Pawhuska, Okla., to Jennings Anson and Helen Scott Mock. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1944. He had a B.S. from Oklahoma University and a B.D. from the Seminary of the Southwest.
James served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War as a paramedic. He married Frances Freeman McCall on Sept. 22, 1951. He was the priest at St. Mark's Episcopal Church from 1960 until 1983 and then served three churches in the Dioceses of N.W. Louisiana from 1983 to 1993 until he retired and moved back to Plainview.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one daughter, Helen Frances Mock Richardson. He is survived by his son, James Anson Mock Jr. and wife Pam of Plainview; his daughter, Mary McCall Mock of Woodbridge, Va.; and two granddaughters, Crystal Richardson Sapir of Plano, Texas, and Lindsay Mock Cooper and husband Joey of Lubbock. He also has three great-grandchildren, Noah McCall Sapir of Plano, and Miles Cooper and Ellis Cooper of Lubbock.
