Simon Martinez ,91, of Hale Center, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2018. A rosary will be held at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Hale Center on November 14, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Hale Center on November 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Simon was born on October 28, 1927 in Odem, Texas to Pedro and Anita (Gomez) Martinez. He married Eloisa Martinez on September 11, 1944. He served our country during the Korean Conflict in the army as a PFC. Mr. Martinez did farm work for most of his life. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and Sacrado Corazon. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived his children; Anita M. Betancur and husband, Joe, of Hale Center, Richard Martinez and wife, Ethel, of Boyd, TX, Irene Martinez of Hale Center, Bebe Gomez of Hale Center, and Minerva Martinez of Hale Center, brother; Leopoldo Martinez of Hale Center, sisters; Raquel Gomez of Hale Center, and Angie Martinez of Smyer, TX, one son-in-law, Val Leon of Hale Center. Simon was blessed by 20 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter; Olga Leon, and sisters; Manuela Garcia and Merce Gomez.
