Funeral services for James Robert "Bob" Simmons, 91 of Plainview will be at 1:00 pm Saturday January 28, 2012 at Northwest Church of Christ in Plainview with Sam McCormick and Trey Morgan officiating. A graveside will be held at 3:15 pm Saturday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst, Texas under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. He died Wednesday January 25, 2012 in Plainview. He was born January 1, 1921 in Foard County, Texas to James Robert and Sarah Isadora Simmons. He married Freda Lee Evans on April 23, 1939 in McCaulley, Texas. He was involved in agriculture all his life. Survivors include his wife, Freda Lee Evans Simmons of Plainview; one son, Stan Simmons and wife Lannie of Plainview; one daughter, Robin McCormick and husband Sam of Montrose, CO; one brother, Hartley Simmons and wife Vadis of Emory, TX; one sister, Jo Marr Baird and husband Lawrence of Amarillo; 18 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren, 9 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces of nephews. He is preceded in death by three sons, James Robert "Jim Bob" Simmons III, David Ivan, and Roy Evan; one Granddaughter, Lori Grant; one Great Granddaughter, Kallie Grant.
