Ricardo Castillo, 75, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. A Rosary will be held on Monday October 9, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 10 at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church 504 E 13th, Hale Center, Texas, with Father Jeremy Trull, Officiating. Under the care and direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Ricardo was born on March 29, 1948, in Rocksprings, Texas to Rafael and Dominga Castillo. He attended and graduated from Hale Center High School in Hale Center, Texas, where he played baseball. He graduated from Hale Center in 1966. He was an avid sports fanatic and enjoyed watching High School football and baseball. Ricardo loved to cook and grill and spend time with his family and grandkids.
Ricardo was the Bilingual Election Coordinator for Hale County from 06/06/2008 through 11/29/2021. He served on the Hale Center City Council from May 2013 to May 2021. Ricardo served his country in the Air Force from 1966-1971. He was very active in the community. He was a CCD Teacher with the Youth Program at St. Theresa's Catholic Church.
Ricardo married the love of his life, Guadalupe Garcia, on August 20, 1982. The two of them renewed their vows to each other on August 20, 2016.
Ricardo is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Castillo, his four children, Michael Castillo of Lubbock, Texas, Sara Henderson (fiancé John White) of Plainview, Staci (wife Katie) Castillo-Ferrell of Plainview, and Eryn Castillo of Plainview. Five grandkids, Megyn Castillo, Jake Castillo, Adam Henderson, Sadie Albers and Sloan Adolph, and his sisters Susanna Guebara, Gracie Florencio and brother, Ralph Castillo.
Ricardo is proceeded in death by his parents Rafael and Dominga Castillo, his siblings, Sulema Alonzo, Jose Castillo, Margarita Castillo-Perez, Robert Castillo and granddaughter Isabelle Grace Rocha
