Funeral Services for Reta Jones, age 90, wife of former State Representative Delwin Jones of Lubbock, will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Oakwood Methodist Church in Lubbock with Rev. Jimmy Nunn officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.She died Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Lubbock. She was born on July 16, 1923 in Martha, Oklahoma to Morris and Grace Loving Womack. She married Delwin Jones on October 18, 1946 in Lubbock. She moved to Olton, TX in 1924 and then to Lubbock in 1942. She graduated from Draughns Business School and worked at South Plains Army Air Field during WWII. She also worked for Sears Roebuck and DeKalb Oil Co. After she married, she was a stay-at- home mother and housewife. She participated in Lubbock Christian Women's Club and other Bible Studies. She was instrumental in getting Lubbock Habitat for Humanity established by speaking at numerous civic clubs to raise awareness of the organization and the need for it in Lubbock. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church and then Oakwood Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband Delwin Jones of Lubbock, 1 Son: Lanny "Tyler" Jones of Long Beach, Calif., 1 Daughter: Melodie Jones Snodgrass and husband Harry of West Virginia, 1 Brother: Bill Womack of San Angelo, 2 Grandsons and their wives and 3 Great Granddaughters. Preceded in Death by: Both parents and 1 brother, Don Womack.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in her memory to Lubbock Habitat for Humanity, 2910 AVE N. Lubbock, TX 79405
