February 1, 1957 – March 19, 2025
Randall L. "Randy" Steward saw his last sunrise on March 19, 2025. He passed peacefully from this life at home surrounded by his family and their love.
Randy was born on February 1, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Leon L. and Violet Steward. "Steward" was more than a name, but his livelihood; he dedicated his life to the food service industry, and most recently could be seen zooming around the Texas Tech campus at all sporting events and concerts making sure everything was running smoothly.
Randy loved all things outdoors including skeet shooting, fishing, hiking, and especially camping. He was an active member of Boy Scouts and not only served as scoutmaster of troop 402, but was also very actively involved in troop 406 where he enjoyed helping all three of his sons in achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also in Troop 1 for Woodbadge in the bobwhite patrol, as well as received the honor of being inducted into the membership of the Order of the Arrow where he attained the rank of Vigil.
Randy is survived by his wife, Amy Bartley Steward, their sons Christopher, Matthew, and Bradley Steward of Lubbock, his brothers Terry Gaston and wife Virginia of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Hugh Gaston and wife Clare of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, Tom Gaston of Story, Wyoming, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Randy's celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church on March 27, 2025 at 4:00pm with Dr. Shera Atkinson, Officiating. Arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
