It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ramona "Mazie" McCarty, 83, on April 26, 2025, in Plainview, TX, surrounded by her loving family. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 5:30 PM with visitation to follow, at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Doug Yates officiating. Arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.

Mazie was born on August 28, 1941, to Lonnie Box and Ruby Eastep. She married the love of her life, Paul McCarty Jr., on June 1, 1971, in Hale County, Texas, and remained married until Paul's passing in 2013.

Mazie had a deep love for family and cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking and visiting with her customers and friends. She also enjoyed decorating the café with her good friend Alice Marquez. She enjoyed planting flowers in the spring.  Mazie looked forward to birthdays and was always singing and radiating happiness. She had a painting studio upstairs where she lived at the Nu-Griddle and was very artistic. The Nu-Griddle has been a cherished part of the McCarty family for 50 years. Mazie was a hardworking, strong-willed woman with a wonderful sense of humor, and she was a true enthusiast of the Nu-Griddle.

Mazie is preceded in death by her husband, Paul McCarty, Jr.; her son, Kenneth Charles "Charlie" McCarty; her parents, Lonnie Box and Ruby Eastep; her sisters, Sue Cliburn and Joyce Hunt; and her brother, Eldon Box.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Stacy McCarty Wade and husband Jimmy Tyler of Plainview, TX, Stanley McCarty of Plainview, TX, Robert and wife Sandy McCarty of North Carolina; her daughter in law, (Charlie's widow) Sharon McCarty of North Carolina, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
