Peggy was born on February 28, 1937, in Marquez, TX, to Reese Dixon and Emma Lingford. She married Roy Parr on February 26, 1952, in Waco, TX.
Peggy was a mighty woman of God whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of countless people. She deeply cherished her family, found joy in cooking and gardening, and often filled her home with uplifting songs as she worked. Peggy loved connecting with people, and music was truly woven into her soul. As a dedicated choir member at United Baptist Church, she not only sang but also volunteered in the kitchen and organized many successful fundraisers. Well before ride-sharing apps existed, Peggy was a devoted caregiver, delivering supplies to friends and loved ones whenever they were in need. Her servant's heart shone through everything she did. Above all, she found deep joy in reading and studying God's word. Among those dearest to her was her 105-year-old friend, Mrs. Dorthy Zachery, who always held a special place in Peggy's heart. The family gives special thanks to Ms. Yvonne Franklin and Ms. Betty Walzier, her lifelong friends.
Peggy leaves to cherish her memories her children, Roy Parr Jr. with wife Veronica of Irving, TX, Gloria Price with husband Clyde of Lubbock, TX, Betty Golson with husband Mike of Mansfield, TX, Sharon Mendenhall with Husband Edwin of Copper Canyon, TX, Cynthia Lewis-Strambler with husband Gregory of Frisco, TX; her sisters, Patsy Willis of Waco, TX and Paulette Stokes with husband Alex of Rialto, CA; her close friend like a grandson, Rev. M.L. White; A host of Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Parr Sr.; her parents, Reese and Emma Dixon; and several brothers and sisters.
