Noel Lee Dickson passed away August 9, 2023.  Cremation is under the care of Bartley Funeral Home, Plainview, Texas.  He had been under the care of Hospice.

Noel was born December 27, 1945, in Slaton, Texas.  He was the son of Charles and Cora French Dickson.

Noel's father was a conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad, a job that took the family to San Angelo, Texas where they lived from 1947 to 1952,  when they moved back to Slaton.  Noel graduated from Slaton High School in 1964. He was a proud member of the Slaton High School Tiger Band.

Noel loved music and had a natural talent for playing drums.  One of the highlights of his early life was when his parents took him to Jent's House of Music, Lubbock, to purchase his first set of drums.  Down through the years he played with many local bands in West Texas.  He was a member of the legendary Hoyle Nix Band for several years.  He once went on an East coast summer tour with the country music Hall of Famer Hank Thompson.  That same summer the band toured the U. K. and he played a the famous Palladium in London.  Occasionally he would fill in for Leon McAuliffe and the Texas Playboys.  He continued to play for several years with the Wilburn Roach band at the Westernaire Club in Lubbock.

Once he decided to put down his sticks, he enjoyed a successful career in the insurance business and was associated with various companies.  In retirement he enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and caring for his dogs.  He was an avid fan of the Cowboys, Rangers, and Stars.  But his number one team was the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

While living in Dallas, Noel met his wife Penny Lynn Joiner.  They were married Feb. 11, 1994, and Penny passed away November 2021.

Noel is survived by his sister Monty German of Waco, Texas, brother Billy Dickson of Garland, Texas, stepdaughter Kathy Meeks Foster of Lexington, SC, niece Lydia Wright of Dallas and nephews David German of Hico, Texas and Paul German of Waco, Texas, and their families.

In August of 2022 Noel reconnected with a longtime friend, Judy Adamek Tullis.  Judy's kind and loving care gave him much happiness that was appreciated by his family.
