Melvin Carl Shivers, 56, of Plainview, Texas, passed away on July 24, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday July 27, 2024, at New Jerusalem Church in Plainview, Texas with Pastor Bill Stubblefield officiating.

Melvin was born on August 4, 1967, to Earnest Shivers, Jr. and Johnnie Mae Petty. He married Joann Shivers on May 26, 2002, in Plainview, Texas.

Melvin Shivers was an amazing husband, father, poppa, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a smile that could light up even the darkest room. He was a giving soul and was the first to offer help to those in need. His kind spirit was noticed by all that crossed his path. He touched lives everywhere. As a husband, he was a leader, provider, protector and best friend. He loved all his children, and his grandbabies meant the world to him. He loved his sisters and brother, and always laughed with them.

When Melvin worked, he always gave it his all and then some. If he didn't know how to do it, he learned. He took pride in his accomplishments and always strived to be the best. From farming to mobile detailing to managing detail. He will be deeply missed by many. It was sudden and unexpected by God's will, but when He calls us home, it can't be questioned. He's on the golden stairway to beauty and peace eternally.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Johnnie Mae Shivers, son Joseph Giordano, his grandparents, Chester and Johnnie Lee Owens

Melvin is survived by his wife, Joann Shivers, his children, Melvin Shivers Jr. of Miami, FL, Whitley Shivers of Lubbock, TX, Mellazae Shivers of Lubbock, TX, Simone Alvarez of Kress, TX, D'Shae Shivers of Plainview, TX, Tyrese (Salisa) Shivers of Plainview, TX, Frank (Nicki) Giordano of Ohio, and Vanessa Giordano of Plainview, TX, his brother, Rodney (Nicole) Shivers of Hereford, TX, his sisters Jacqueline Shivers of Lubbock, TX, Cynthia (Jeff) McNutt of Lubbock, TX, Mary Shivers of Lubbock, TX, and Martha Shivers of Lubbock, TX, his grandchildren, Damien Giordano, Domanique Otero, Dezmanae Willis, Giovanna Giordano, Oliver Casias and Sicily Shivers
