A Celebration of Life Service for Mary Ann Young, 64, of Plainview, will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Rev. Edward Jennings officiating. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Bartley Funeral Home. Ms. Young passed from this life on March 9, 2018 in Lubbock.

Mary was born on May 20, 1953 in Plainview to Detroit McKinney and Ollie Mae Young (Lewis). During her time with us she attended Wayland Baptist University. She went on to work as a substitute teacher with Plainview School District. She also worked as a cook at Woodfire Grill in Plainview. Mary was a member of New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Jonathan Smith of Plainview, Mackenzie Smith of Plainview, ShyCheekia Blackmon and husband Derrick of Plano, and Christina Torres and husband Jessie of Dodge City, Ks., two sisters; Ethel Coleman of Cedar Hill, and Sabrina Young of Plainview, three brothers; Detroit McKinney Jr. of Dallas, Tony Young of Amarillo, and Calvin Young of Amarillo, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her adopted father, Valentino Young, four brothers; George, J.B., Valentino, and James and one sister; Charice.
