Obituary

We announce the passing of Martha Gallaway, 79, who reunited with her husband, Donnie, in heaven on June 6, 2025, in Plainview, TX. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home and Prairie View Crematory of Plainview.

Martha was born in Floydada, TX, on January 19, 1946, to Wade Warren and Leona Owens. She married Donnie Gallaway on April 23, 1964, in Floydada, TX.

Martha was not just a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; she was the heart and soul of her community. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her active participation at Colonial Baptist Church in Plainview, where she and her husband, Donnie, contributed to the church's vibrant life. Martha's musical talents shone through as she played the piano, sang in the choir, and inspired children as a Sunday school teacher. For many years, she dedicated herself to leading the Girls in Action (GA) program, developing the next generation of young girls.

Beyond her church involvement, Martha was a proud member of the Singing Women of West Texas, and the Red Hat Society, bringing joy and harmony wherever she went.  She loved creating memorable moments with family and friends, often hosting lively game nights and delicious dinner gatherings. Bunco nights with friends were a highlight, full of laughter and camaraderie.

Martha's dedication to her community extended to her role as a den mom for the Cub Scouts, where she not only shared valuable life skills but also fostered a sense of belonging among the children. Her passion for birdwatching and her love for the beauty of nature made every road trip a cherished adventure. Yet, above all, it was the precious time spent with her sister, Betty, that filled her heart with joy and warmth. Martha truly embodied the spirit of love, service, and community, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Gallaway; her parents, Wade and Leona Warren; and her brother, Bill Warren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jeff (Melissa) Gallaway of Weatherford, TX, Brian (Twyla) Gallaway of Plainview, TX; her sister, Betty Ritchey of Longview, TX; four grandchildren, Jordan Aly (Thomas) of McKinney, TX, Paxton Gallaway of Lubbock, TX, Brianna Lujan (Jaime), and Mason Gallaway (Hunter) of Lockney, TX; and six great- grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
