Funeral services for Martha Jane Carter, 86 of Plainview will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Ron Huckeby officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Martha died Sunday, May 3 in Lubbock. She was born November 18, 1928 in Avinger, Texas to Robert and Leo (Leach) Haynes. She married Thomas Preston Carter on February 14, 1944 in Anson, Texas. He died May 10, 2004. She was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. Martha was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 daughters, Synthia Taylor and husband Durvis of Plainview and Judy Brown of Tulsa, OK; 1 brother, Jim Taylor and wife Debbie of Avinger, TX; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
