Funeral Mass for Mariano Chavez, 79 of Hart will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church in Hart with Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. Mr. Chavez died Saturday, December 7, 2013 in Plainview. He was born on July 25, 1934 in Mexico to Leandro and Margarita Chavez. He is survived by 3 sons, Jesus Chavez and wife Mary of Hart, Gerry Chavez and wife Casandra of Plainview and Harvey Chavez and wife Julissa of Hart; 2 daughters, Martha Rodriquez and husband Angel of Plainview and Norma Ritter of Plainview; 1 sister, Celia Ibarra of Oklahoma; 22 Grandchildren and 22 Great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Chavez; 2 children, Nora Chavez and Mariano Chavez, Jr.; 1 brother, Jesus Chavez; 2 sisters, Lupe Ariaga and Alicia Hernandez and both parents.
