Funeral Mass for Maria Flores, 87, of Lockney, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at San Jose Catholic Church, 303 SE 4 ^th Street in Lockney with Father Ruban Selvaraj officiating. Interment will be held at the City of Lubbock Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home in Plainview. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Flores passed from this life on January 15, 2018, in Lockney.

Maria was born on February 12, 1930, in Orange Grove, Texas, to Luis Ortiz, Sr. and Dorotea Salinas. She married Humberto Flores, Sr. on October 25, 1948, in Orange Grove. From this union they had four children: Humberto "Bert" Jr., Lyda, Alicia, and Nora. Maria worked as a nurse aide for W.J. Mangold Memorial Hospital in Lockney and later also became a Home Interiors sales representative. She was a member of the Catholic Church where she was an active participant in Las Guadalupanas.

Those left to cherish Maria's memory are her son Humberto "Bert" Flores, Jr. of Lubbock and his fiancée, Celestina Contreras of Arlington; her daughters Alicia Gallegos of Lockney and Nora Flores of Lubbock; her sister Olivia Ortiz of Hobbs, NM.; plus nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Humberto Flores, Sr.; her parents Luis Ortiz, Sr., and Dorotea Flores; her daughter Lyda Fraga; plus five brothers and two sisters.
