Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Maggie Lee Landrum, age 78, on August 18, 2025, in Lubbock, TX. A wake will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bartley Memorial Chapel.  A Funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Plainview, TX.  Burial will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.

Maggie Lee Landrum was born on January 19, 1947, in Rosebud, Texas. She was born to Mae Helen Neal and Essie D. Truesdale. She was Mae Helen Neal second oldest child of nine. Maggie accepted Christ at an early age at Thompson Hill Baptist Church and was member of  United Baptist Church and New Jerusalem Baptist Church (Rehoboth Christian Worship Center) of Plainview, Texas. She attended Rosebud-Lott Independent School District in Lott, Texas and Collins Independent School District in Sudan, Texas. She obtained her GED from Plainview Adult Learning Center in Plainview, Texas.

On May 18th, 1965, she married the late Larry Don Hallcy Sr., which ended in divorce three decades later. Seven children were from that union. In 1996, she married Rhyna Lee Sansom of Plainview, Texas. No children were born from that union.

Maggie was diverse with many skills. In 2005 she retired from Dr. David Wright Medical Practices where she was employed for over a decade. During that time she received many awards and certificates for her outstanding service. In 2011 she relocated to Arlington, Texas where she worked leisurely for My Royal Palace in Duncanville, Texas.

Maggie was a devoted believer, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. From 1989 to1990 she was the President for the Women Adult Study Club, and the Coordinator of the Black Awareness Juneteenth Committee of Plainview, Texas until she relocated to Arlington, Texas.

She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and spades, playing softball (Hawks), orchestrating family reunions, and mainly spending quality time with her children and helping raise her grandchildren.

Maggie was called to eternal rest on August 18, 2025. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by (ex-husband) Larry Don Hallcy Sr.; (son) Steven Earl Hallcy; (grandson) Tyran Julijion Hallcy-Sanders; (grandmother) Dora Baldwin Landrum; (mother) Mae Helen Neal; (father) Essie D. Truesdale; (brothers) Charles White, Clarence Miller and Dexter Scott; several aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

Maggie leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted (husband) Rhyna Lee Sansom; (daughters) Mary Hallcy (Robert Woods) (Lubbock, Texas), and Lisa Hallcy (Ocala, Florida); (stepdaughter) Tammy Sansom (Pflugerville, Texas); (sons) Larry Don Hallcy Jr., and Ricky Hallcy (Plainview, Texas), Lawrence Hallcy (Tameka) (Leander, Texas) and Mark Hallcy (Phoenix, Arizona); (grandchildren) LaDondra Hervey (Antuan) (Waxahachie, Texas),  Jeffrey Hallcy (San Antonio, Texas), Tzara Mack (Mantell) (Ocala, Florida), Tyra Hallcy (Silver Springs, Florida), Dontravious Hallcy (Grand Coteau, Louisiana), Tarvaris Hallcy (Bryan College Station, Texas), Jalissa Hallcy (Arlington, Texas), Jazron Jackson (Lubbock, Texas), Stephon Hallcy (Plainview, Texas) DeAndre Hallcy (Leander, Texas), Kimble Hallcy (Grand Coteau, Louisiana) Jasmine Ramirez (Lubbock, Texas) and Marques Butler (Grand Coteau, Louisiana); (step granddaughter) Amaya Guyton (Pflugerville, Texas). Eleven great-grandchildren; (brothers) Johnny Landrum (Robbie) (Olton, Texas), Tommy Scott and Robert Scott (Plainview, Texas); (sisters) Rita Scott Morris (McKinney, Texas) and Winifred Kay Neal (Addison, Texas); and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
