Obituary

Lowell Jean Troedel, 82, of Olton, Texas, passed away on September 5, 2019. Cremation services are arranged by Bartley Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was born to Walter and Mary (Lowers) Barker on April 28, 1937 in Jamestown, New York. Lowell graduated from high school in 1955, attended nurses' training in New York, and anaesthesia school in Missouri. Lowell worked as an anaesthetist at Cornell Medical Center in New York City, Miami Medical Center in Florida, and served on the ship of Project Hope on its circumnavigation of South America teaching anaesthesia to local communities. Later Lowell served in the medical corps of the United States Air Force in Vietnam and the Philippines before settling in West Texas where she worked in the smaller hospitals of the towns surrounding Plainview for more than thirty years. Lowell had also been a private pilot, sailing instructor and swimmer.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Stephanie Hathaway and husband Paul of Oxford, UK, grandsons Will and Dashiell Hathaway, both of Oxford, UK; sisters Joan Stone and husband, Ted, of Plainview, Texas, Kathleen Green, and Penny Krebs of New York; and brothers Lance Barker, David Barker, and Stephen Barker.

Lowell is preceded in death by her parents; Walter and Mary (Lowers) Barker.
