Obituary

Funeral services for Lola V. Carter, 91 of Plainview will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Harvey Wampler officiating and Rev. Edward Jennings assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Lola Henegar Carter was born January 4, 1923 in Hugo Oklahoma to Lester Lee Henegar and Almeria Snow. She married Morris Trendon Carter (M.T.) June 30, 1940. Lola was a professional baseball player in 1941 and pitched for The Dalby Transport until 1944. She and her husband had been in the restaurant business for 30 years owning the Alcove, Todes T-bone and several other restaurants. Mrs. Carter sold Stanley Home Products from 1973-2005. Lola was a member of First Assembly of God Church since January 1930. Lola was also a member of the Woman's Ministry and served as the Kitchen Director, Church Choir, and Sunday School Teacher. Lola and her late husband started the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship Chapter in the Alcove in 1963. Lola never met a stranger. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ her Savior above all. She was the most loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Lola was a true blessing to all of her family, and taught her family the strength and wisdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her children, daughter Deborah Carter-Moody of Plainview, her son Trendon Darryl (Danette) Carter of Plainview. Grandchildren, Wendy (Ross) May of Lubbock, Leigha Valenzuela of Lubbock, Trendon Lee Carter of Hale Center, Matthew Carter of Plainview, Amber Carter of Lubbock, Andrew Moody of Plainview, Anthony James Leto of Colorado Springs, Alexandria Cruz of Lubbock, Christian Cruz of Lubbock and Tossie Combs of Plainview. Lola had 8 wonderful Great Grandchildren that she loved dearly. Mrs. Carter was the 1 st of seven children born to Lester Lee and Almeria Henegar. She is survived by 2 brothers Edward Lee (Helen) Henegar of Plainview, and Anthony (Lucielle) Henegar of Plainview, and one sister Marnell Walker of Plainview. Lola was preceded in death by 2 sisters Lena Thompson, and Geneva (Oleta) Owens, and one brother Charles Henegar.
