Leta Laverne Burleson, 98, of Lubbock, passed from this life on December 1, 2018. Graveside arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m with Steven Carr officiating. Visitation will be held at Bartley Funeral Home in Plainview, Texas on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Leta was born on April 5, 1920 in Rochester, Texas to George Washington and Nora Ellie (Marcy) Turner. She married Finnie Earnest Burleson on September 14, 1952 in New Home, Texas and in that union, they had two sons. Mrs. Burleson worked at Bell Telephone in Dallas, Texas and also worked for Reese Air Force Base as a payroll clerk. She ended her working career at the Lubbock Avalanche Journal in the 70's. She will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; Steve and William George Burleson both of Lubbock, Texas, and one sister; Margie Holly of Midwest City, Oklahoma

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Finnie Earnest Burleson.
