With heavy hearts, we announce that Leonard Rodriguez Sr.(67) departed this life and entered heaven's gates, reuniting with his Lord and Savior on July 1, 2026, in Plainview, TX, surrounded by loved ones. A Viewing will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Bartley Memorial Chapel from 4:00 - 6:00 PM, followed by a Rosary from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tulia, TX, with Father Avitus Siriwa, Officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia, TX. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.
Leonard was born on September 15, 1958, to Jose Antonio Rodriguez Sr. and Marcela Chavez Rodriguez in San Antonio, TX.
Leonard spent most of his life working in transportation as a truck driver, and he also dedicated time to farm work. Known for his unwavering faith and devotion to God, Leonard often shared his beliefs with others. Though he could be stubborn, he cherished time outdoors, especially fishing and hiking at Palo Duro Canyon. He had a unique passion for stargazing from rooftops with his telescopes. Leonard’s love for history, particularly that of San Antonio, was well known. He was deeply family-oriented, always keeping in touch and prioritizing his loved ones.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Rodriguez and Marcela Rodriguez; his wife, Serapia Rodriguez; his daughter, Eva Hunting; his grandson, Alvin Rodriguez Jr.; his sisters, Beatrice Rameriz and Grace Villa; and his brothers, Joe Frank “Pancho” Rodriguez and Jose Rodriguez.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Abraam Rodriguez of Huntsville, TX, Alvin Rodriguez (Brandy Hayhurst) of Tulia, TX, Leonard Rodriguez Jr. of Tulia, TX, Noel Rodriguez of Tulia, TX; his daughter, Elvia Rodriguez (Joe Gonzales) of Plainview, TX; his sisters, Diana Nivarro of Tennessee, Melinda Rodriguez (Antonio) of Houston, TX, and Marcella Rodriguez of Mexico; his brothers, Marcello Rodriguez of Plainview, TX, Moses Rodriguez (Maria Delores) of Minnesota, and George Rodriguez (Josie) of New Mexico; his son-in- law, Charles Hunting of Iowa; and his daughter- in law, Assiria Ramos of Plainview; thirty one grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, Plus numerous nieces and nephews.
