Judy Ann Ashley, 78, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on July 4, 2023. Born on November 11, 1944, in National City, California, Judy was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was known for her thoughtfulness, intelligence, strength, and kindness.
Judy lived her life to the fullest and embraced every challenge that came her way. She had a passion for cooking and baking, especially when it came to preparing meals for large family gatherings. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she would do anything for them.
In her professional life, Judy dedicated most of her years to the insurance industry. She began working for State Farm while still in high school and eventually moving into Human Resources at St. Paul's Insurance until her retirement.
Surviving family members include her son, Richard Ashley of Somerville, South Carolina, her daughter, Angela Ashley of Lubbock, Texas, her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Ashley of Lubbock, Texas, and her grandchildren, Kathy Moeller (Kyle) and Seth Ashley, both of Lubbock, Texas, as well as Sierra Ashley and McKayla Ashley of Somerville, South Carolina. Judy also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Peyton and Abby Moeller of Lubbock, Texas. Her siblings, Joyce (Bill) Stephens of Snyder, Texas, David (Betty) Richardson of Deming, New Mexico, Betty Reed of Big Spring, Texas, Patty (Jay) Ross of Lubbock, Texas, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother, Opalene Brown, her husband of over fifty years, Ray Ashley, and her beloved son, Gregg Ashley.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Judy's life will be scheduled for August. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Judy's memory.
Judy's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her throughout her remarkable life.
