Jose "Joe" Barretero, age 66, passed away from this earth on January 7, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM Friday, January 17, 2025, at Bartley Memorial Chapel in Plainview, Texas. Cremation arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home and Prairie View Crematory of Plainview.

Joe was born to Pedro and Angelita Barretero on March 11, 1958, in Dimmitt, Texas, and was the second of seven children. Joe worked for Castro County in road construction before deciding to pursue a career as a truck driver, which allowed him to enjoy the open road.  A natural talker, Joe made friends with everyone he met and regularly called his family and friends to check on them. He was a kind-hearted and generous man, always willing to share whatever he had with those in need. Joe had a curious mind and was always interested in understanding how things worked.

Joe is preceded by his parents, Pedro Barretero and Angelita Gonzales Barretero.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Linda Menchaca and Silvia Barretero of Mesquite, TX; his brothers, Jesse and wife Nila Barretero of Plainview, TX, John and wife Ernestina of Pflugerville, TX, Jorge Barretero of Plainview, TX, and Pete and wife Becky of Mesquite, TX. Plus several nieces and nephews.
