Funeral services for John "Sam" Sneed, Jr. 69 of Grand Prairie, formerly of Plainview, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ with Elder Ben Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Sneed died on Monday, December 31, 2012 in Arlington. He was born on January 18, 1943 in Plainview to John James and Leanna Sneed. Mr. Sneed grew up in Plainview and graduated from Booker T. Washington in 1961. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1967 and in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. He was awarded a Bronze Medal and a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1967. He moved to Fort Worth in 1967 where he gained employment at General Dynamics. After 3 years employed by G/D, he became employed by Yellow Lines Trucking Company for 33 years until his retirement. Mr. Sneed moved to Grand Prairie until his demise.

He is survived by 5 Brothers, Bill Carter of Gideons, TX; Robert Sneed of Fort Worth, TX; Charlie Sneed of Houston, TX; Roland McCutcheon, Jr. of Denver, CO and Lawrence McCutcheon of Huntington Beach, CA; 3 Sisters, Johnnie Sneed Trotter of Amarillo; Kathleen Sneed Jackson and Ruby Sneed Riggins both of Plainview; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend, Beverly Edwards.
He was preceded in death by, His Father, John James Sneed, Sr.; His Mother, Leanna Sneed McCutcheon; 1 Sister, Audrey Sneed Wooley and 1 Brother, Larry McCutcheon.
