Funeral Mass for Joe Henry Rivera, Sr. 50 of Plainview will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Arsenio Redulla officiating. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Rivera died Sunday, February 1, 2015 in Lubbock. He was born on September 18, 1964 in Hale Center, Texas to Antonio and Rosa Rivera. Joe was a jack of all trades including electrician, plumber, carpentry, mechanic and irrigation repair lines. There was nothing that he could not do. He would never say, "I don't know how," he would find a way to get it done. He was always on the go. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He never tried to impress no one. He was who he was and spoke freely. Joe is survived by his wife, Esperanza "Hope" Rivera; 2 sons, Joe Henry Rivera, Jr. and Vyncent R. Rivera both of Lubbock; 3 daughters, Amber N. Perez and Joshua Mendoza, Cassandra and Jacob Martinez and Lysa J. and Jimmy Holland all of Lubbock; 1 step-son, Francis Castillo; 6 brothers, Juan and Linda Rivera of Lockney, Antonio and Rosemary Rivera of Bryan, TX, Gregory R. Rivera, Sr. of Bryan, TX, Michael and Christina Duran Rivera, Sr. of Temple, TX, Pete Rivera and Gilbert Rivera both of Houston; 3 sisters, Margaret Rivera of Bryan, TX, Melissa and Bob Youngblood of Henderson, TX and Luisa Rivera of Huntsville; 9 grandchildren and 38 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents; godmother, Lupe Sanchez "La Paloma"; 1 sister, Denise Rivera and a granddaughter, Imari Mendoza.
