Joe Luna Gonzales, 76, passed away on November 2, 2023, in Plainview, Tx. Rosary will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bartley Memorial Chapel Plainview, Texas. Mass will be held Monday, November 6, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Bartley Funeral Home, Plainview, Texas.
Joe was born on August 11, 1946, in Odem, Texas to Francisco and Catarina Gonzales. He married the love of his life, Manuela Guzman on September 28, 1967, in Plainview, Texas.
Joe proudly served his Country; he was in the Army AUS Armor then transferred to USAR. He served in Vietnam War for 11 months and 27 days. His decorations include Marksman Badge Rifle M14; Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device; Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, 2 O/S Bars; Combat Infantryman Badge.
During his civilian life he worked for Klen King Cleaning Service, he owned Paul Grager Janitorial Service. He loved spending time with his family. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved playing cards, reading western books, and watching western movies.
He is survived by his loving wife, Manuela Gonzales of 56 years, two sons, Richard Rodriquez (Guadalupe) of Arkansas and Martin Rodriguez of Plainview, Texas. One daughter, Melissa Longoria of Plainview, Texas. Four sisters, Gloria Perez of Dimmitt, Texas; Chavela Rivera of Dallas, Texas, Nellie Ledesma of Dallas, Texas and Mary Perez of Dimmitt, Texas.
He was proceeded in death his parents, Francisco and Catarina Gonzales, one sister Hope Rivera, and two brothers Ruben Gonzales and Frank Gonzales.
