Joe Morrison Cozby, 72, of Plainview, entered heaven's gates on August 15, 2021. Services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Bartley Memorial Chapel located at Bartley Funeral Home.  Joe's brother-in-law, Donnie Peal of Tulsa, Oklahoma, will be officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Bartley Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

Joe was born on November 9, 1948, to Joseph M. and Billie Jean (Sarver) Cozby in Stamford, Texas. Joe Sr. passed away 4 months before Joe Jr. was born.

Joe was raised in Plainview and graduated from PHS in 1969. He entered the United States Army in 1970 during the Vietnam war. He was stationed overseas in Vietnam for over a year.

He married Kathryn Gail Elliott on August 31, 1970, in Plainview, Texas and in that union they had two sons. They shared 51 wonderful years together.

Joe will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend.

Those left to remember Joe is his wife of 51 years; Kathryn Cozby of Plainview, Texas, his son; Jarod Michael Cozby and his wife of 28 years, Kimberly, of Lubbock. Their two sons, Joe's cherished grandsons, Kaden Michael, 15, and Jase Michael, 7, both of Lubbock. He is also survived by his adoring sister; Wanda Jean and husband, Donnie Peal of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his brother and life-long best friend, Lawrence "Tiny" Ballinger of Plainview, Texas. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joe is preceded in death by his son; Joe Kyle Cozby who passed on November 9, 2019, leaving behind his loving newlywed wife, Sara Burton. He is also preceded in death by his parents and his sister; Billie Lou Gray.
