Reunited with his lord and savior, Joe V. Castro Jr. passed away on April 29, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Bartley Memorial Chapel in Plainview, Texas, with Pastor Lopez officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. before the funeral service. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview, Texas.

A man who truly embraced the outdoors, Joe found joy in fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his family. He was a devoted father and a genuine soul who could always be counted on to be truthful and transparent. Those who knew Joe remember his joyful spirit when cooking out, working on projects, and above all, the way he openly shared his authentic self with everyone he met.

Joe held a special place in his heart for his Tia Ida.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Helen V. Castro; his sons, Joe “Joey” Castro, Joseph Castro, Josiah Castro, and Steven Castro; his sister, Diana Castro Castaneda; his brothers, Alfred V. Castro, Israel V. Castro, and Rafael V. Castro; and the joy of one grandchild.

He also joins in eternal rest his father, Jose R. Castro; brothers, David V. Castro and Jesse V. Castro; and sister, Connie C. Reyna, whose memories live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
