Funeral services for Jimmie Lee Davis, 74, of Plainview will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday May 21, 2013 at Trinity Fellowship Church with Pastor Steve Rogers officiating and Kelly Warren, life group leader at Trinity assisting. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.
He died on Friday May 17, 2013 in Lubbock. He was born on February 14, 1939 in Ector, TX to Earl Davis and Essie Bryant. : He married Mary Hembree on June 21, 1957 in Plainview.
Mr. Davis graduated from Kress High School in 1957. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers with the title of negotiator and worked for Southwestern Public Service for 40 years. In the 1960's and '70s he owned his own plane and loved to fly. He established the old car club in Plainview with all the proceeds going to Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed restoring old cars with his 1978 Corvette winning multiple first place trophies. He also loved his remote!
Surviors include his wife, Mary Davis of Plainview; one daughter, Dianna Akers and husband Tim of Nashville, TN; one brother, Bennie Davis and wife Marilyn of Azle, TX; one sister, Darlene and husband Mike of Eakly, OK; two grandchildren, Camille Blinn with husband Jesse and Chase Akers both of Nashville, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews.
