A Mass of Christian Burial for Jesse Sanchez, age 66 of Benbrook, Texas will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday March 16, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lubbock with Father Martin Pena officiating. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Lubbock. The Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 15 in Bartley Memorial Chapel in Plainview. Jesse passed away on March 9, 2017 at Dallas Veterans Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Jesse Sanchez was born on August 18, 1950 in Anson, Texas to Roy Sanchez and Oralia Jimenez Sanchez. He graduated from high school then entered the Air Force in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1973 as a Fuel Specialist. After the Air Force, Jesse started a long time career as a long haul truck driver. In his spare time he liked to build model cars and model airplanes. Jesse was a collector, he liked to collect watches and clocks.
Jesse married Lidia Cano on June 6, 1982 in Lubbock.
Jesse was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Sanchez; his parents, Roy and Oralia; and 2 brothers, Gilbert Sanchez and Lupe Sanchez.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 34 years, Lidia; 1 son, Richard Rocha of Lubbock; 2 daughters, Yvette Rocha of Benbrook, and Elisa Bustamante of Wichita Falls; 4 grandchildren, Elisa Aguirre, Danielle Aguirre, Oscar Aguirre, and Devin Bustamante; great-granddaughter, Sophie Fuentez; brother, Ruben Sanchez; 5 sisters, Dominga Arroyos, MaryAnn Rodriguez,of Lubbock, Ofelia Martinez of Ft. Worth, Rebecca Plankenhorn of Irving, and Molly Long of Maryland.
