Janis Keffer Davis, 65, passed away on October 30, 2020 after an extended battle with myasthenia gravis. Janis' family and friends find comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and is in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Janis was born on November 28, 1954 and was the daughter of Thurman Lee Keffer and Patricia Joyce Keffer. Janis attended Plainview High School(Class of 1973) and Troy State University, Montgomery, Alabama. She grew up in the First Christian Church of Plainview.
Janis was very talented in many areas including art, music, sewing and cooking. Janis took great pride in the fact that she had returned to college in 1989 and had become a Registered Nurse. Much of her career was spent in Montgomery where she was a Nursing Supervisor and Emergency Room critical care responder. She was also experienced in areas concerning cardiovascular, psychiatric inpatient, and was certified in oncology and chemotherapy . Janis moved from Montgomery to Plainview in 2010 to be close to her aging parents. She soon began a new phase in her nursing career with Area Home Care. Janis was extremely grateful to Becky Steffens for the opportunity to continue with her chosen
profession.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman Keffer (2011) and Patricia Keffer (2014). Janis is survived by two sons, Chris Tyler and his wife Melinda and grandchildren Chandler and Turner, and Ricky Tyler and his wife Melinda and grandchildren Kacie, Joshua and Zane. Janis is also survived by her brother, Dan Keffer and his wife Susan of The Woodlands, TX as well has her niece and nephew, Krystle Keffer-Smith and Myles Keffer.
Janis is survived by many friends she held dear to her heart including Belinda Ramos and her husband Ray and Becky Steffens and her husband David. Janis had a small circle of friends in Plainview that she found great comfort in fellowship through their association with the "Friday Night Supper Club".
There will be a small graveside service for Janis on Friday, November 20 at 12:00 noon where Janis will be interred with her parents at Plainview Memorial Park with Oscar Chavez officiating. A registry will be available at Bartley's Funeral home for anyone unable to attend the graveside service. A memorial is pending and is uncertain at this time due to the resurgence of Covid-19.
