Obituary

James Patrick "Pat" Seigler passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in Matador, TX. Graveside Services will be Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Paducah, TX.  Visitation will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Matador Church of Christ.  Arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.

He was born on December 29, 1940, in Motley County to Herbert Eldred Seigler and Fannie Elizabeth Rattan. He married Gertrue Ann Henry on September 7, 1959, in Clovis, NM.

Pat was a long-time and respected mortician for most of his adult life. He owned Seigler Funeral Home in Matador beginning in June 1963 (except from 1985 to 1989) and acquired Seigler Funeral Home in Paducah in 1978. He sold both funeral homes and retired in 2009. Pat was active in the community, serving as a deacon at First Baptist Church and a member of the Cemetery Board, Lions Club, and the Fire Department. He also formed the Turkey Jamboree house band.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, David H. Seigler, of Tyler, TX, and his daughter, Shelley Merchant, of Matador, TX,  Six grandchildren, Mike Merchant, Patrick Merchant, Kathryn Merchant, Michael Seigler, Kaitlin Branin, and Phillip Seigler; and two great-grandchildren.

Pat is preceded in death by his wife, Ann H. Seigler; his parents, Herbert Eldred Seigler and Fannie Elizabeth Seigler; his brothers, Herbert Norman Seigler and Don Kent Seigler; and his sisters, Frances Folmar and Linda Smith.

The family requests memorial contributions to: East Mound Cemetery in Matador, Motley County Ambulance Service, or Matador Volunteer Fire Department.
