With great sadness, we announce the passing of James Ferguson, 77, on April 27, 2025, in Lubbock, TX.  A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM at New Covenant Church in Plainview, Pastor Jim Adams officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.

James Ferguson was born on October 26, 1947, to Ernest Ray and Viola Mary Ferguson in Plainview, Texas. He married the love of his life, Terisa Ferguson on August 23, 1991, in Plainview.

James was a man of strong faith and a member of New Covenant Church in Plainview. He proudly served his country as an army veteran. Throughout his working years, he served as a bus driver and drove for companies such as Coca-Cola, Spartan, Comfort Station, and Tommy Luis. Many people recognized James by his prosthetic leg, and he was known for being honary. He had a kind spirit and was a quiet individual.

James enjoyed spending time doing yard work with his wife and playing games. He was also deeply passionate about family time, cherishing moments with his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in the adults they had become and loved them all dearly.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Ray and Viola Mary Ferguson; his sister, Iris Gail Ferguson Bynum; his niece, April Bynum; and his grandparents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Terisa Ferguson; his children, Cherisha Ferguson Silva of Pampa, TX, Heath Ferguson of Fort Worth, TX, Patrick Ferguson and family of Colorado, Ira Ferguson and Tabitha of Lubbock, TX, James David Ferguson and wife Retta of Burkburnett, TX; his step sons, Roger Pemberton of Sundown, TX, Freddie Tackett of Wolfforth, TX, and Willie Tackett of Lake Buchanan; and his sisters, Violet Borron Phillip of Plainview, TX, Wanda K Fergson Spradling and Glenn of Jacksonville, NC.
