James
Davis
May 25, 1953 – March 2, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce that James "Jim" Davis of Silverton, TX, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 2, 2026, in Silverton, TX. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11:00AM at the Silverton Methodist Church in Silverton with Elder Barry Francis officiating. Interment will follow at Silverton Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview, TX.
Jim was born in Tulia, TX, on May 25, 1953, to James Forest Davis and Frances Annell Tye Davis. He married the love of his life, Connie Grimland, on December 28, 1998, in Silverton, TX.
Jim was raised in the Methodist Church. He was widely known for his humor and easygoing nature, making him a joy to be around throughout his years as a farmer. He was kind, hardworking, and deeply passionate about music, especially classic rock. Barbecues with family and friends were among his favorite gatherings. As a child, Jim fondly remembered a crab apple tree on the farm. Unable to eat the crab apples, he and his siblings and friends would playfully toss them at each other. Holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving held a special place in his heart and were often celebrated on the farm alongside birthdays. Jim farmed and raised cattle, planted, tended and harvested crops, finding joy in the routines of farm life. He also shared a passion for football with his sons, especially cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. One memorable family trip to Austin was for a convention honoring farmers whose families had owned the same land for over 100 years; they attended in a "hippie van." That van is still in the family and is a beloved symbol of treasured family moments.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Connie Davis; his children, Kevin (D.D.) Duncan of Amarillo, TX, Jeremiah (Hailee) Henderson of Silverton, TX, and Jesse Henderson of Silverton, TX; his sisters, Dianne (Tom) Bridges of Levelland, TX, and Barbara "Barb" Fannin of Florida; four grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jim is proceeded in death by his parents, James Forest Davis and Frances Annell Tye Davis; his niece, Karina Perkins; his uncles, Carol Davis and Earnest Tye.
