Hubert Holland, 70, of Plainview, departed this earthly life and entered heaven's gates on January 20, 2021. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Bartley Memorial Chapel starting at 10 a.m. with Pastor Brian Barkley of Edmonson Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Alpine, Texas on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. A visitation will be Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Bartley Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m.

Hubert was born on March 3, 1950 in Amarillo, Texas. He was raised by his grandparents and always had many stories to tell about his grandfather. He attended Edmonson Baptist Church and was a member of the Carpenters Local 665 in Amarillo, Texas for 40 years.

Hubert enjoyed fishing, collecting guns, and attending gun shows. His special talent was making custom hunting knives and knives for friends. He was a carpenter and superintendent of some commercial projects including grocery stores in different parts of Texas. He loved to build and use a great piece of lumber.

Hubert was always willing to offer advice and knowledge to those in need. He was a protective, devoted, and caring husband. He loved his daughters and grandchildren dearly. He appreciated his stepsons and came together as a family.

Hubert will be terribly missed by all who knew him.

Those that will cherish his memory is his wife of 22 years; Virginia Holland of Plainview, daughters; Tina Holland and Jennifer Holland Nevener and husband, John, a sister; LaQuita Henderson, a brother; Sidney Cook, a uncle; Homer Vorse, step-sons; Bryan Welps and wife, Charity, and John Welps and wife, Vanessa, his cousins; Gary Vorse and wife, Sharon, and Eldon Vorse and wife, Linda, and two special friends; Freddie Haire and Leonard Garcia.

Hurbert was blessed with a host of grandchildren that will carry on his memory.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Vorse, and his paternal grandparents.
