Obituary

A Chapel Service for Henry "Buster" Summers, 89, of Plainview, will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joe Barrera officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Buster passed from this life on November 23, 2017 in Plainview.

Henry "Buster" Summers was born on May 5, 1928 to Marguerite Grace Waller Summers and Henry G. Summers in Deberry, Texas. Buster married Patricia Cowart and from this union they had one child; Pepper Summers. Buster worked at the Bus Station for many years and the Albuquerque Store. He served in the Army until he was Honorably Discharged. Buster moved back to Plainview in 1994. He married Alicia Lozano Summers on February 23, 1996.

Pepper, Buster's son, moved back to Plainview in October of 2015, after a 42-year hiatus, to enjoy being with his dad, who was such and inspiration and to many of his friend's dismay didn't even look 65!

Buster was a proud and dedicated member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #1175 and was a long-time trustee at the time of his sudden passing. He was also a member of the House Committee and a past Exalted Ruler.

Buster was such a fun person to spend time with and be with at lodge during their many functions. Where ever he was, that was "the" place to be. You lived life your way, friend and dad, and we all were so lucky and blessed to be along for the wonderful ride. Godspeed Buster. We will join you in but the blink of an eye.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son; Pepper Summers of Plainview, three step-daughters; Mary Jane Flores and husband Joe of Lubbock, Erma Stinnett and husband Anthony of Frisco, and Patricia Morris of Plainview, three grandchildren; Michael Summers of Elizabethtown, Ky., Jason Summers and Sarah Summers, both of Vine Grove, Ky., five step-grandchildren, one aunt; Carolyn Dixon of Midland and cousins, including M.K. Mangum.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and both of his wives.

The family has asked that memorials be made to Elks Lodge #1175 PO Box 668 Plainview, Texas 79072 in Buster's memory.

Those serving as Pallbearers are Plainview Elks Lodge #1175 PER's: Joey Myrick, Danny Knox, Charles Lawson, Cody Lindeman, Michael Carroll, and Danny Miller.
