Funeral services for Henry Johnson, Jr., son of the late Henry Johnson, Sr. and Ada Adair Johnson will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Ash & Carver Church of Christ, 1700 N. Ash Street, Plainview, Texas. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson passed suddenly on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Amarillo Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on October, 31, 1936 in Lockney, TX. After serving in the military during World War II, he returned to Plainview and worked as a leaver puller at the Panhandle Compress. He later obtained his plumbing license and became a Master Plumber. He moved to Hereford, TX and ran a successful business until he retired at the age of 82. Henry was preceded in death by two daughters, Stella and Shirley; sisters Lync O'Neal, Venice Goss, May Pearl Goss, Lo Ellen Johnson, JoAda Johnson and Carla Lowe; brothers, Milton Goss, Hazier Goss, Samuel Johnson and James Johnson. He leaves behind in Ranchero Hereford, TX, his devoted confidant and wife of 37 years, Rachel Johnson, 3 sons, Douglas of Killeen, TX, Tommie Lee of Washington, DC and Bobby Ray and Deborah of Mesquite, TX; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
