Guadalupe "Shorty" Wally Noriega, 77, departed this earthly surrounded by his family and entered heaven's gates on December 12, 2022.
Family visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Bartley Funeral Home. Mass services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Mission in Kress, TX with Father David Contreras officiating followed by burial in Kress Cemetery.
Guadalupe "Shorty" Wally Noriega was born on July 23, 1945, Blue Earth, Faribault County, Minnesota, to Silverio Noriega and Margarita (Rodriguez) Noriega. He attended school in Kress, Texas. Guadalupe married the love of his life, Catalina Reyes on July 28, 1968 at St. Williams Hall in Tulia, Texas and shared many years together up in her passing in 2001.
He was a Catholic and went to Cursillo. He loved to travel, dance, and to spend time with his family. He also liked spending time with his farm animals, he loved his dog Ruffles, he liked to play Spanish Bingo and hunting. Guadalupe served in the Army he was in Vietnam also. He was a heavy equipment operator and worked for Buster Lowery Construction.
Those left to cherish Guadalupe's memory are his children: Georgina Cavazos and Carlos, Poteet, Texas; Christopher Noriega and Angela, Plainview, Texas; Monica Hernandez and Estevan, Tulia, Texas; Michelle Briones, Kress, Texas; Gabriel Noriega and Hermina, Tulia, Texas; Robert Noriega and Valerie, Kress, Texas; Jesse Noriega and Sandra Marquez, Dallas, Texas; and Solomon Noriega with Brenda Bustos, Kress, Texas. 23 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandkids. Brothers and Sisters: Juan Noriega and Maryann, Kress, Texas; Francis Noriega, San Marcos, Texas; Betty Cantu and Johnny, Colorado; and Anita Tijerina and Jesse, Kress, Texas.
Guadalupe is preceded in death by his wife, Catalina Reyes Noriega; his parents, Silverio Noriega and Margarita (Rodriguez) Noriega; one brother, Jose Noriega; one son-in-law Saul Briones, two grandsons Jessiah Martinez, and Jhett Michael Noriega.
