Glenda Faye
Summers
January 2, 1956 – January 18, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a truly beautiful and sweet, sweet soul, our precious mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and aunt, Glenda Faye Summers. She left this earth on January 18, 2024, with her loving husband, sister, and family by her side. Leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness; she has been reunited with her mother and father, Dorothy and Rayford Britton, and brothers, Bobby Naron and Paul Allen.
Glenda embodied the virtues of kindness and generosity from an early age. She was a devoted daughter, a loving wife to Roger Summers, and a caring sister and best friend (partner in crime) to Judy Allen and Rodney Moss. Glenda's life was defined by her unwavering dedication to her entire family. Her role as a mother was not just a title; it was a commitment to nurturing, supporting, and putting the needs of her loved ones before her own.
Glenda, above all else, loved being a doting mother to her four children with whom she shared with her first husband, the late David Marrion Bruce. Her children, Amy Bruce, Nate and Angie Bruce, Jessica Bruce, and Jimmy and Erica Bruce were blessed to experience the indescribable love of their darling mother. As a grandmother, her heart expanded even further to embrace Ashley and Jacob Martinez, Michelle Luna, Alyssa and Travis Maxwell, Darien Cornett, Quinten Bruce, Jaelyn Bruce, and Elizabeth Bruce, and her great-grandchildren, Cohlton Lee Maxwell, Bentley Bea Maxwell, and Forrest Peter Luna-Martinez
Lots of people in the community will remember Glenda as the General Manager of the Kettle Restaurant. She spent many years there serving the people of Plainview and travelers who stopped in. She worked countless hours making the Kettle Restaurant a place that felt like a home away from home for employees and regular guests. She moved on from the Kettle and joined her sister Judy in their very own small business venture. They have enjoyed working and laughing and cleaning together for the last five years.
Glenda had the biggest heart and was known for her sweet spirit. She was fearless and incredibly strong, yet sensitive and compassionate. She was a beautiful person inside and out and her eyes were of the brightest, bluest skies, a trait that is easily remembered at the mention of her name.
Glenda's presence was a source of comfort and solace for all who loved her. Her selflessness and dedication to others created a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her. She cared so deeply for the people around her. Her legacy will be engraved in our hearts, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that knew no bounds. She will be missed forever.
A celebration of Glenda's life will be held at Bartley Funeral Home on January 24, 2024 at 11:00AM with Terry Wright officiating. We invite friends and family to join us in remembering and honoring an exceptional woman who touched our lives with grace and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Plainview Healthcare Center in Glenda's memory.
