Funeral services for Geneva Ellerd, 83 of Plainview will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at First Christian Church with Dr. Max Browning officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Geneva passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 in Lubbock. She was born October 7, 1930 in Globe, Arizona to Makinley and Nancy Watson Eastep. She married Reuben Ellerd on March 25, 1954 in Clovis, N.M. He died January 28, 1986. Geneva owned Square Dance Apparel and did photography. She was on the planning committee at Christian Manor. She worked at Faith in Sharing House (FISH) and was a member of First Christian Church where she was the Sunday School Director. She is survived by 1 daughter, Ettalea Love and husband Don of Lubbock; 1 Step-daughter, Jeanie Pennell of Plainview; 3 sisters, Virginia Rogers of Plainview, Claudell Durkee of Alvarado, Texas and Jewel Gibson of Plainview; 4 grandchildren, Tina Chapman, Kevin Love, Trey Baer and Kristi Stanford; 8 great grandchildren; A special friend, Ken Snelling of Plainview and numerous nieces and nephews.
