Funeral services for Freda Lee Simmons, 89 of Montrose, Colorado formerly of Plainview will be at 1:00 pm Thursday April 5, 2012 at Northwest Church of Christ with Sam McCormick and Trey Morgan officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:45 pm at Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst, Texas under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

She died Saturday March 31, 2012 in Montrose, Colorado. She was born on October 11, 1922 in McCaulley, Texas to Horace and Bertha Evans. She married James Robert "Bob" Simmons on April 23, 1939 in McCaulley. He died January 25, 2012. She was a homemaker and a member of Montrose Church of Christ.

Those surviving are one son, Stan Simmons and wife Lannie of Plainview; one Daughter, Robin McCormick and husband Sam of Montrose, Colorado; one Brother, Horace Evans and wife Jo of Ft. Worth; 19 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, 11 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert "Bob" Simmons; three sons, James Robert "Jim Bob" Simmons III, David Ivan, and Roy Evan; one granddaughter, Lori Grant and one great granddaughter, Kallie Grant.
