Eugene "Gene" Pope passed away on March 8, 2025, in Plainview, Texas. Cremation arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home and Prairie View Crematory of Plainview.

Gene was born on February 22, 1949, in San Bernardino, California, to Bill and Malalin Ridale Pope.

Gene attended Pepperdine University and graduated in 1971. During his working years, Gene served as a state correctional officer and was a part owner of the Sears franchise in Plainview from 2001 to 2007.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Malalin Pope.

He is survived by his friend, Carlos Flores.
