Funeral services for Edith L. Scherck, 94 of Plainview will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2012 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will be in Eagalite Cemetery in Collbran, Colorado on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Services are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. She died Monday September 17, 2012 in Plainview. She was born on November 4, 1917 in Spring Hope, NC to William and Mozelle Laughter. She married Myron Frank Scherck on April 12, 1945 in Raleigh, NC. He died on May 5, 1983.
She spent her childhood at Nash and Franklin Counties, NC. Her favorite hobbies were sewing, gardening, crochet, quilting, hiking, hospitality, bible study, and especially baking pies. She was a Pink Lady for the Hospital Auxiliary in Plainview and a member of First Baptist Church. Her little dog Rusty was her companion whom she loved and he was always by her side.
Those surviving are 1 son, Donald E. Scherck and wife Lydia of Pensacola, Florida; 2 daughters, Beverly E. Hadley and husband Joe of Plainview and Susan J. Garrett and husband George of Tunbridge Wells, England; 5 sister, Miriam Wiggins, Elaine McGarvey, Rachel Laughter, Shirley Laughter and Barbara Davis; 7 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; 2 sister, Inez Carter and Versteen Rice; 1 brother, Edwin Leon Laughter; and 1 grandson, Devin Scherck.
