Funeral services for Doris Nell Harkey, 84 of Post, Texas will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at North Side Baptist Church in Abernathy with Rev. Joel Perez officiating. Interment will follow in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Doris Nell Harkey left this world on December 24, 2012 in Post, Texas. She was born Doris Nell Darden on May 20, 1928 in Haskell, Texas; where she attended and graduated High School. She was a Hairdresser until she married Aaron Stark in 1955. She and Aaron Stark had three children, Linda Sue Jensen of Godley, TX, Roger Neal Stark of Post, TX and Aaron R. Stark of Cleburne, TX. Aaron Stark died tragically in 1957. She then married Elmo Warren "Joe" Harkey in 1960. She and Joe lived and farmed in New Deal, TX. Following the death of Joe Harkey in November 1995, she married Kenneth Overton of Canada in 1998 and they remained happily married until her death. She had 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many friends in the New Deal and Abernathy communities where she spent most of her life. She was an active member of North Side Baptist Church in Abernathy. She moved to Post in June of 2011 to be closer to her son and grandchildren.
