Obituary

Donita Jo Smiley passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Donita was born to Percy and Mary Perry on March 13, 1963, in Newport News, Virginia.  She was the fourth youngest of 14 children.

Donita graduated and attended school at Menchville High School.  She received a scholarship for track for Wayland Baptist University, where she received her bachelor's degree.  While she was attending Wayland she met the love of her life, Carl Smiley.   She loved working out and was an instructor at the YMCA, a personal trainer, she spoiled her grandchildren, if she wasn't with her family she was working out or with church activities with Carl.   She was very uplifting, vibrant, always giving positive advice and helping those in need.  She was member of Austin Heights Church of Christ, where Carl is the preacher. She lived by the saying, Live, Love and Laugh.

Donita leaves to cherish her memories:  her husband, Carl Smiley, her children: Carla Smiley of Lewisville, TX, Reggie (Kathryn) Smiley of Euless, TX, Zal (Bailey) Smiley of Plainview, TX, Josh Smiley of Plainview, TX and Ebony Chance of Dallas, TX; her brother and sisters: Percy "Ronnie" Perry of Newport News, VA, Pamela "Diane (Fred Frazier of Durham, NC, Clifton (Felisha) Perry of Newport News, VA,  Valorie "Vickie" (George) Blizzard of Newport News, VA, Kenneth (Mal-Selika) Perry of Raleigh, NC, James (Gwen) Perry of Newport News, VA, Eric (Paula) Perry of Houston, TX, Ray Perry of Newport News, VA, Michael Perry of Rhode Island, Angel Perry of Durham, NC, Antwan Perry of Newport News, VA, Marry Helen "Cookie" Darden of Bristol, CT; her grandchildren, Brianna Mathis of Lewisville, TX, Kyra Smiley, TJ Smiley, Ashlyn Smiley all of Euless, TX, Hilton Smiley, Mia Smiley, Zayla Smiley, Lincoln Smiley, Aria Smiley all of Plainview, TX, Tyra Franklin, Elijiah Franklin both of Dallas, TX, and one great grandbaby on the way Zayden Lomax of Lewisville, TX; her nephews Matthew Perry of Plainview TX and Micheal Perry, Jacksonville, FL.

Donita was proceeded in death by her parents: Percy and Mary Perry; her brother, Carvin Perry; her sister-in-law, Ada Perry.
