Debbie
Puente
June 4, 1956 – November 6, 2020
Debbie Puente, 64, of Hereford, Texas, departed this earthly world and entered heaven's gates on November 6, 2020.
Debbie was born in Friona, Texas on June 4, 1956 to Jose and Erma Hernandez. She was
raised on a farm outside Friona, Texas and graduated from Friona High School.
Debbie came from a large family and blessed with many siblings who loved her. Debbie
left behind three sisters and two brothers Lupe Padilla and Rebecca Lindauer both of Hereford,
Texas and Olga De La O, of Friona Texas, Macedonia "Mickey" Hernandez of Hereford, Texas,
and Joe Hernandez of Amarillo, Texas. Debbie loved her family very much and adored each and
every one of her nieces and nephews. If she called you family you were loved.
Debbie met her love Rogelio Puente at a youth group activity on Valentine's Day and
they were later married on June 14, 1975. She gave birth to a son, Joshua Puente of Dallas,
Texas, Hanna Puente of Dalhart, Texas, and Leslie Martinez of Fort Worth, Texas. Debbie and
Roy also fostered and raised Robert Halberg, and Freddie Little as well as many other young
people. Debbie loved and lived for her grandchildren Josheph, Arianna, Brooklyn, Xavier, Erika,
Joe Angel, Avriey, and Hailey. While Debbie loved her children and grandchildren immensely
that love paled in comparison to the love she carried for her Roy.
Debbie spent her early career as a house parent to troubled youths at Lena Pope Home in
Fort Worth. There she helped forge and shape teenagers into young adults. Later she focused on
her home and church life. She loved her church family as much they loved her. Debbie loved
traveling and going on mission trips, as well as gardening and fishing. As long as she was near a
loved one, she was happy and could have a good time. She will be missed by everyone who
knew her.
Due to COVID-19 virus the family has decided to postpone a memorial service until it is
safe for family and friends to come together to celebrate her life. The family greatly appreciate
all the kind words of support we have received. The family is asking in place of flowers that you
donate to one of two nonprofits; Love On The Move- A Native American Missions Ministry
https://donorbox.org/love-on-the-move-navajo-children-s-christmas, or Maoz Israel
