Cory Don
Mcelwee
May 3, 1978 – April 13, 2025
Cory Don McElwee, 46, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. The cremation will be handled by Bartley Funeral Home and Prairie View Crematory of Plainview, Texas. Cory was born on May 3, 1978, in Lubbock, Texas to Donald Ross McElwee and Mary Lou (Wood) McElwee.
Cory grew up at the family farm in South Lubbock and learned how to ride his dirt bikes, as well as, learned how to bowl at a very young age. He was a big kid at heart that loved to work on his lego sets during his down time. He loved to watch football and played football at Lubbock Cooper High School, but most of all he enjoyed cheering on the Texas Tech Red Raiders, as well as, the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a graduate from Texas Tech University with EMT certifications. He liked to play golf, but especially Golden Tee. He was a traveling construction superintendent, which took him to a lot of different places where he made a lot of friends near and far.
Most of all he took pride in his children, which he loved immensely and from his paramedic days, where he saved countless lives and did so even up to the end.
He was larger than life; he did not know a stranger. He had such a big heart and was the most generous guy that you would ever meet. He lived life to the fullest and will be sorely missed by many, but especially his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, (grandmother) Helen McElwee, (grandparents) Blondie and Zola Wood, (aunt) Alice (McElwee) Adams, and (sister) Michelle McElwee.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Peyton McElwee Gore, Hayden McElwee and Cayden McElwee, two sisters, Tonya McElwee (Senee Graves) and Averie Turner (Lonnie Stroud), three nieces, Kaelie, Lannie, and Bella Stroud, cousin Glenn (Jennifer), Fiddler, Randall Hurst (Stacy) as well as one uncle and numerous cousins ( to many to name).
We would also like to extend a special thanks to Aundi Duke and special friends for being by our side as family was important to him.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Bar P.M. 1211 University Ave. in Lubbock, TX, on Saturday, May 3rd, from 11:00A.M. till 1:00 P.M.
